Day 2 of the AAA North-East Regional Wrestling Tournament has 7 Freedom Wrestlers still on the road to Hershey. 5 Wrestlers in the Semi-Finals, 115lb Dylan Brown, 145lb Adam Evans, 170lb Jake Young, 195lb Johnny Callahan and 220lb Josh Newhart…126lb Jonah Zych and 285lb Cordell Cotto fighting there way up through wrestle backs…. Day 2 of the North-East Regional Wrestling Tournament see’s Freedom’s 170lb Jake Young in the Semi-Finals. Lehigh Valley News said the bout of the night came at 170, where Young after a disappointing District 11 tournament where he came in third, took White down twice in the first period and wrestled brilliantly on his feet for perhaps the best win of his career.
“I had two takedowns, and he didn’t take me down,” Young said. “I was able to get in on my low singles. I prepared all week to not let him control the tieups and not let him control my wrist. He’s really good at controlling your wrists. I went for the inside ties and I kept my left hand free. I had to stay in good positions and stay within myself.”
Young used a powerful whizzer to deny White a tying takedown at the edge at the buzzer.
“That was the way I should have wrestled at District 11,” Young said. “Without sounding egotistical, I’d like to say that was the real Jake Young.”
